Establishing the Association of Caribbean Risk Management Professionals:

A Step Toward Building Resilience and Increasing Risk Intelligence in the Caribbean

“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change” – Albert Einstein

In response to the changing landscape of global and regional challenges, that have left indelible marks on both our economies and societies, the need for a concerted effort in the realm of risk management has become more pronounced than ever before. The unprecedented challenges posed by natural disasters, climate change, economic downturns, and global pandemics have highlighted the critical importance of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across all facets of our lives.

The Caribbean Risk Management Academy has recognized the need to join forces and establish an association dedicated to fortifying the region’s resilience and risk intelligence. The Association of Caribbean Risk Management Professionals is an initiative that aims to unite alumni of the Caribbean Risk Management Academy (CRMA) and the Trinidad and Tobago Risk Management Institute (TTRMI).

As former students, we have recognized the importance of building robust economies and enhancing risk culture and intelligence of our communities. With natural disasters, economic fluctuations, and the global pandemic that has caused various ripple effects on our societies, the need for a consolidated approach to risk management has never been more evident.

The Association of Caribbean Risk Management Professionals seeks to create a community where professionals can learn from and support each other, fostering a collaborative spirit in the Caribbean region. By engaging with CRMA and TTRMI, members anticipate benefits such as regular updates, insights into events, and exclusive offers for training and conferences. The upcoming Inaugural Formation Meeting, scheduled for November 30, 2023, promises to be a sobering moment where we emphasize the need and relevance of this association. It will define the Association’s purpose, elect founding officers’ proposed regulations and set the stage for an impactful journey ahead. We also extend an invitation to risk practitioners navigating this dynamic field, those who have and interest in risk management and organizations sharing similar vision and seeking to collaborate to increase its risk intelligence.

This collaborative effort invites professionals across the Caribbean to actively participate, contributing to the development of resilient economies and fostering a culture of preparedness. As we embark on this transformative journey, the Association of Caribbean Risk Management Professionals stands poised to empower the region, guiding us towards a future of enhanced governance, innovation, and agility.

ACRMP Volunteers 2023 to 2024

As you may know, the ACRMP was formed by the Founder and President of CRMA & TTRMI, in response to the changing landscape of global and regional challenges, that have left indelible marks on both our economies and societies. The need for a concerted effort in the realm of risk management has become more pronounced than ever before. The unprecedented challenges posed by natural disasters, climate change, economic downturns, and global pandemics have highlighted the critical importance of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across all facets of our lives.

The Caribbean Risk Management Academy recognized this need to establish an association dedicated to fortifying the region’s resilience and risk intelligence. Accordingly, the Association of Caribbean Risk Management Professionals is an initiative that aims to unite alumni of the Caribbean Risk Management Academy & the Trinidad and Tobago Risk Management Institute.

That being said, the term of the interim executives of the ACRMP has come to an end, and we therefore invite nominations or volunteers to act in these roles for the next year (12 months). The CRMA and board of the ACRMP sincerely thank the outgoing executives for the yeoman service they provided the organization during its initial first year of operations.

Yours sincerely,

Ken Hackshaw
