Senator Dr. Marlene Attzs

Dr. Marlene Attzs is a distinguished development economist with a strong focus on sustainable development, climate resilience, and economic transformation in Caribbean small island states. With over two decades of academic and professional experience, she has established herself as a leading voice on national and regional economic issues.

Dr. Attzs is a tenured faculty member at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine having served as Head of the Economics Department and Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Between 2016 and 2022, she served as Advisor to the Campus Principal, where she played a strategic role in aligning institutional operations with broader organisational objectives.

Her expertise extends beyond academia, having worked as a consultant for numerous national community-based organizations and major regional and international institutions, including the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She has contributed to research and policy discussions on economic resilience, climate adaptation, and sustainable growth strategies for Caribbean economies.
